The Director of Business Development generates revenue and expands market share by developing new Federal Government clients for Symposia’s business model by capturing Federal Government contracts for IT services. This highly visible sales director leads internal cross-functional solution design and deploys consultative selling strategies, to establish and leverage new, profitable client relationships with identified federal agency customers. The Director of Business Development (IT Services) must be able to travel up to 30% of the time. This director will establish new United States Federal Government clients, grow, and expand the client base by marketing our services for IT Education solutions and IT services. Symposia is a provider of IT Education solutions and IT services.

Responsibilities:

  • Build new Strategic Relationships with the United States Federal Government Agencies procuring Information Technology Education solutions and Information Technology services.
  • Achieve quarterly and annually established revenue targets through accurate monthly and quarterly forecasting.
  • The priority for this role is to add U.S. Federal Government agency accounts and provide input to the delivery model that works best for specific agency clients.
  • Entry into new ecosystems, specific RFP targets, and the execution of key partners and relationships.
  • Responsible for growing market share for Symposia within Federal agencies.
  • Lead capture efforts, including market research, customer engagement, and proposal strategy.
  • Qualify new sales opportunities through systematic investigation of client’s situation and objectives, evaluation of revenue potential, and alignment with Symposia’s IT Education and service offerings.
  • Discover and analyze client strategic objectives, specifications and challenges through trusted advisor and consultative relationship.
  • Initiate and establish relationships with client contacts through phone calls and in person meetings, to present customized solutions which solve current financial, operational, and workforce planning challenges and align Symposia’s solutions with desired future state.
  • Negotiate complex sales cycles with the client, interfacing with all the key buying influencers.
  • Structure detailed strategic plans for building new business relationships with key stakeholders and Government POC and Agency Small Business offices.
  • Develop and deliver presentations aligned with Symposia’s style and branding guidelines to communicate valued solutions to the Agency Small Business Offices, and Federal Government customer contacts to create new revenue streams and/or increase market share, often as part of Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
  • Attend RFP conferences.
  • Customize business proposals and presentations based on client situations.
  • Continually expand individual knowledge of IT Education Solution and IT services market trends, industry analyst updates, and competitive data by reviewing internal and external sources.
  • Participate in key industry associations and trade organizations.
  • Develop and manage the pipeline of diversified accounts by converting opportunities through the sales cycle.
  • Communicate sales activities and opportunities through the pipeline call process to keep all stakeholders informed of upcoming implementations (i.e., shared services, corporate, other partners).
  • Stay up to date with federal contracting regulations, policies, and industry trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

 

Preferred Education/Certifications:

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA)

 

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+ years in Federal Government contracting business development in the Information Technology (IT) Industry working for leading organizations.
  • Specialized experience in Capture Management in the U.S. Federal Government contracting arena highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes, compliance, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive initiatives with minimal supervision.

Required Experience:

  • Information Technology (IT) services industry.
